  1. Go out and find the best people Sell them on working in your store
  2. Use tools such as employee referral programs and bag stuffers
  3. Work with local schools and churches to get great employees
Good interviewing and screening
  1. Always use and follow the Jack’s Team Member interview guide
  2. Be careful about hiring people who appear to be overqualified They will usually be with you for only a short while
Ensure that GM does a great day one orientation
  1. Use the orientation book and go through in detail so that new employee is comfortable and knowledgeable about their new job
  2. Always have new uniforms available for new employees
  3. Give the new employee a thorough tour of the store and introduce them to everyone Make them feel welcome
Ensure that GM does a great day one training
  1. All team members are food safety certified prior to working a position
  2. Use the CTG’s and go through in detail so that new employee is comfortable and knowledgeable about their new position
  3. Take time at the end of every shift to review the day Be sure to list three strengths and three goals for the next shift
Good open communication builds relationships
  1. Remember, people don’t leave jobs they leave bosses
  2. Ask team members their opinions Make them feel involved
  3. Praise your people Let them know you appreciate them
Management team works together as one
  1. All managers have the same standard
  2. All managers working on the same goals This promotes teamwork
  3. Each member of management puts the good of Jack’s ahead of what’s good for them

  1. Always seek opportunities to reward good performance
  2. Create competition to achieve company standards
  3. Develop an employee of the month to recognize outstanding performance

  1. Always speak to employees Be interested in their lives
  2. A clean, well organized store with high standards will be a place people will take pride in working
  3. Always accentuate the positive Focus on what’s right not what’s wrong
Retention
  1. Re-recruit employees Get them excited again
  2. Give your employees more responsibility Let them know that there are great career opportunities at Jack’s
  3. Get everyone to take ownership in Jack’s by making them feel like owners
