Common Food Allergens

There are 9 common food allergens you need to be aware of.

Milk: A common allergen, especially in children, found in dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and butter.

Eggs: Often hidden in baked goods, mayonnaise, and many pastas.

Fish: Includes a wide variety of finned fish like tuna, salmon, and cod.

Shellfish: A category that includes crustaceans (shrimp, crab, lobster) and mollusks (clams, mussels, oysters, scallops).

Tree Nuts: This group includes almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, and cashews, but not peanuts.

Peanuts: Although a legume, they are often grouped with tree nuts due to similar allergic reactions.

Wheat: Found in many common foods like bread, pasta, and cereals.

Soybeans: A legume found in tofu, edamame, and soy sauce.

Sesame: A seed used in many foods, including breads, oils, and tahini.
